About This Calculator

To scale a recipe, every ingredient is multiplied by the same factor: new servings ÷ original servings. If a recipe feeds 4 and you want 10, everything is multiplied by 2.5.

Watch out for non-linear scaling

Baking: Leavening agents (baking soda, baking powder) don't always scale perfectly. When doubling, use about 1.75× the original leavening rather than exactly 2×.
Salt and spices: Start with 75% of the scaled amount and adjust to taste.
Cook times: Doubling a recipe rarely doubles the cook time — check for doneness early.
